Day #3

Today is my darling sister's birthday, so in honor of that, a happy poem! :) From January 2011. (why are all my poems so short?)

Sometimes when the wind has blown
my thoughts away
I want to say
this world's so beautiful this world's
so beautiful the snow blown hill
and creaking trees the cloudless sky
and pink orange sun this crumbling wall
and always, you
the world and you are perfect.

Why does the length of a poem matter to you?

  2. Oh, just cause they're always very short. I guess that's my style, so I'll have to get used to it :D

  3. Hahaha! You complain about your poems being short, while I have the opposite problem with mine! Mine are always so long, I can rarely write ones that are as concise as yours.

Does it feel right to write short poems? Maybe that is just your unique style! :) Have you tried purposely writing a long poem and seeing how that feels? Maybe you are just really good at getting to the "point" of what you are thinking/feeling in only a few lines. :)

  4. Haha we should (magically) switch styles for a day and see how it feels :)

Usually when they're really short, it's because they flowed really well and I said what I wanted to. When they get longer (and I do have long ones, though I rarely go over a page in my notebook) it's because I'm trying to find my point. It just depends on how clear my point is to me from the beginning, I think. Thinking about it that way makes me feel better, though I'm never going to be a poet who writes volume-long epic poems haha :P
