Today was the second day of piano camp, and I'm pretty crazy busy so I probably won't post for the rest of this week. Here's an old poem, from January 2009 that I really like.
Silence sits
high on the wall
and waits for night to fall
Noise he suffers
as he waits
and watches shadows crawl.
From corners first
they spill to floors
and slowly creep along
Colors change
and sounds die down
as silence sings it's song.
A sticky web
that coats the mind
and seems to make all shrink
Silence spreads
and takes control
he moves so fast-- don't blink.
Before they know
or comprehend
that there is no more light
Darkness breathes
and silence sighs
they merge and form the night.

This is probably my favorite poem you have posted so far. This is SO good. There is this creepy feeling to it and the words you chose that reminds me of how eerie actual silence can be. Do you remember what your inspiration was?
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having fun at piano camp! :) Can't wait to hear all about it and see your posts when things calm down a little for you. Enjoy the craziness! It can be exhausting, but it is so worth it. :)
Aww thank you so much! :) From what I vaguely remember, I was just sitting on my bed trying to think of something to write about, and I imagine this little goblin/house-elf-like creature sitting on the top of the bookcase waiting for night :P
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was crazy fun :) I am tired out though.
I like it because it has a sing-song quality--the rhyming. I also find it quieting.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have a love-hate relationship with rhyming, and I hardly ever use it anymore, but it does work sometimes.
ReplyDeletePlease keep writing!
ReplyDeleteI have been! I've just been so focused on piano that I haven't had the energy to write posts too. Maybe I'll do a giant post with my favorite poems from July.
